Data and privacy
Draft of 29 OCT 26 (first draft 16 OCT 26), written from the data lists of each app (server section 03 DATA INVENTORY and each app's README). Items in [square brackets] are open for Jake and the lawyer.
1. Who we are
Aurochs Online (aurochsonline.net) is run by Aurochs Consulting LLC, Nebraska, USA. Contact: phone +1 (308) 650-0629, website aurochsconsulting.net/contact.
2. The short version
- The apps keep your records on your own phone or computer, not on our server.
- There are no user accounts, passwords or e-mail addresses.
- No tracking cookies, no advertising trackers, no analytics service (such as Google Analytics). We do not sell or share data.
- All files come from aurochsonline.net itself. The pages load no outside fonts or scripts.
- The server keeps a short web log (14 days) for security, then only daily counts of how often each app was opened.
3. What our server keeps

Photo uploads are not used by any app today. If a future app (for example necropsy guidance) needs photos, this page will be updated before it opens.
4. What each app keeps on your device
All apps share two settings: language (au_lang) and light / dark theme (au_theme). Each app also keeps an offline copy of its own files in the browser, and may remember that you closed the install hint or a notice.
Home page
Only the settings above, the offline copy of the home page and the last list of apps. Nothing about you.
Calf Book
On the phone only: calf tag, mother tag, birth date, sex, calving ease, pen, breed, birth weight, ear tag number, notes; the "recorded by" name you type; the GPS location of each calf; up to 3 photos (which may show people) and 1 voice note per calf; your pen, breed and cow lists. The phone asks before using location, camera or microphone; you can say no and still save the calf.
Feed Calculator
On the phone only: your feed list (names, prices and feed values), the order of the feeds, delivery numbers, and which tab is open.
BRD decision tool
Nothing except the language and theme settings. The weight you type and your answers live only in memory while the page is open.
BCS (Body Condition Score)
On the phone only: your settings (ranch name, group name, date, number of cows in the group, percent to score, stage) and each finished scoring (the same details plus the scores, their average, the language and when it was made and finished). The ranch and group names are free text and may contain names. No cattle ID numbers, photos or GPS. It may also remember that you closed the install hint. Export makes a backup file, a CSV file or a text report.

Each new app lists its data here before it opens.
5. Files you save
Export files (CSV or backup files) go wherever you put them. They contain the app's records listed above. Keep them safe; we never see them unless you send them to us.
6. How to delete your data
- Delete single records with the app's own delete button.
- Delete everything: remove the app from your home screen and clear this site's data in your browser settings.
- The web log on the server deletes itself after 14 days. For anything else, contact us.
On iPhone, Safari can delete the data of a website you have not used for about 7 days. Add the app to the home screen and export your records now and then.
7. Where the server is
The server is a rented computer in Finland (European Union). Provider: ishosting. We do not use Cloudflare or any other company in between.
8. Changes
When this page changes, the date at the top changes and the apps show a notice.
Open points for the lawyer
- EU server and EU visitors: what GDPR requires from us (lawful basis for the 14-day log, a contact for requests).
- Users in Russia and Kazakhstan: data-localisation rules (must be checked before any photo app).
- Calf Book photos, GPS and names stay on the user's phone: is the text above enough?
- Keep times above (access codes 1 year, wrong-code blocks 30 days, backups 7 days + 12 months): are they fine?
- Future: anonymous data kept long term for research (planned, to be stated before it starts).
- Children: the apps are for farm work and do not ask for age. Is a statement needed?
